Northfield Police Department names the 2017 Northfield Police Reserve Officer of the year, Tyler Johnson.
At the annual Reserve meeting, the Police Department recognized Police Reserve Sergeant Tyler Johnson as the Reserve Officer of the year for 2017. Tyler has been with the Police Reserves since April of 2015 and prior to that, he had been a Police Explorer with the City of Faribault. Tyler worked a total of 171 hours of volunteer time for the City of Northfield this past year, including participating in supervisory duties, working security at both high school and college sporting
events, assisting with traffic control and crowd control, participating in department ride-alongs with police officers, and conducting foot patrols in the downtown area.
The Northfield Police Reserves are responsible for providing aid and support to the Northfield Police Department and other surrounding law enforcement agencies. Reserve officers are volunteers in Northfield, and the Reserve Unit donated about 1500 hours to the City of Northfield this past year.
The Reserve Unit is currently staffed with about 18-reserve officers and they receive training from the department. The Police Department wishes to increase the number of officers and is seeking candidates who are at least 19-years of age. Applicants do not need to have a background in law enforcement. Please consider joining this group of great volunteers. An application can be obtained on the City of Northfield Website or at city hall.
